Part 3 video demonstrates how to make ActiveSync connection with a host PC via Bluetooth; simple Google search, Facebook login and playing YouTube video using pass through connection, and viewing detailed system information.

Host ASUS N81Vp-D1 laptop is running Windows Vista x86 SP2 with Windows Mobile Device Center version 6.1.6965. Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is the new name in Windows Vista replacing Microsoft ActiveSync.

Tips:
1) Windows XP users can download ActiveSync version 4.5 for FREE at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/eulas/eula_activesync45.mspx?ProductID=76

2) Windows Vista/ Windows 7 users can download Windows Mobile Device Center for FREE at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx

3) ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center is required for pass through connection, to sync content between your mobile phone and your computer, install from PC programs for Eclipse packed in CAB format, install other applications for Eclipse via PC-based setup launchers (*.EXE).

With correct PC and phone settings, it is very easy to make ActiveSync connection via Bluetooth! Once connected, you can view on PC contents of your phone and memory card, you can also make file transfers (except protected ROM files), or view/send SMS from PC (using Jeyo Mobile Companion, MyMobiler, etc). Mobile registry editing is also possible using 3rd party applications (i.e. Registry Workshop). You can also connect using just the USB cable in case you do not have Bluetooth on your host PC. By default, the phone’s battery charges when connected to PC via a USB cable.

You can also use Internet Explorer Mobile to browse the web using your PC’s internet connection (aka ‘Pass Through’ connection). Learn more about Pass Through:

Using GPRS incurs separate charge from telco. I did not include a demo using my GPRS connection as I no longer have sufficient resources. Will try WiFi connectivity when there’s one available downtown.

Important system information such as processor info, clock speed, etc…can be accessed using 3rd party application like SKTools.
